You can entrust your home to Mountain West Construction

Building with integrity

Having heard horror stories from family and friends about construction that has gone wrong, homeowners contemplating a renovation or a new custom home often hesitate. Building and remodeling is a challenge to one's peace of mind. It is like living with an 800-pound gorilla in your house -- you want it to go away as soon as possible.

Remodeling is a service, not a product. All remodeling projects have hundreds of variables, so you can not price a remodel by the square foot. A contractor can shave costs from a project estimate, but it will be done at the expense of quality materials and levels of expertise and service.

Competitive bidding rewards the lowest price, not the best value for the work delivered. Hire a contractor for quality, experience, expertise and service, not for the lowest price. The old adage you get what you pay for is never more true than in the remodeling industry.

When done properly, the challenge of building a new home or addition, or renovating existing space, can be rewarding and will result in years of enjoyment for you and your family, not to mention increasing your investment.

Erich Leatham, owner of Mountain West Construction in Western North Carolina, has decades of experience in making the most difficult complexities seem simple. He accomplishes this by using a time-tested system approach, executed by fully-qualified project managers, who are responsible for every aspect of the job.

Erich knows a project's success depends on communication skills, not only with homeowners but also with tradesmen and material vendors. Mountain West Construction has fully vetted all contractors/vendors and has a long history with them from which to draw upon.

All these interrelated elements make Mountain West Construction stand shoulders above the local competition in the greater Asheville NC area. MWC keep smiles on homeowners' faces: whatever it takes, however long it takes, it is done correctly. Every time.

About Us

Erich Leatham

With more than three decades of experience in the construction industry, Erich Leatham founded MWC with a guiding principle of never settling for anything other than the highest quality of craftsmanship while treating homeowners like family, an attitude appreciated by North Carolinians. His insistence on the best sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers insulate homeowners from any "bad apples" that can turn a project sour.

Fully licensed and insured, MWC is a member in good standing with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), both of which demand the highest level of integrity and ethics as well as consumer satisfaction. MWC also belongs to the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce (HCCC) and has earned an A+ Standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

In addition to MWC's professional associations, its highest endorsements have come from satisfied homeowners.

MWC Approach

Remodeling is exciting. It's fun to make design choices. It's creative and absorbing. It's rewarding to make a dream a reality, but it's also chaotic, messy, and challenging.

Erich Leatham never lets a homeowner operate under the illusion that a remodeling project is a walk in the park.

"It's a major disruption in my clients' lives," Erich said. "Strangers are going to be in their home for weeks or months at a time. That's why we take precautions to minimize our clients' stress."

Communication between the homeowner and the remodeler is critical to a smooth, less stressful experience. Mountain West Constructions uses a number of communication methods including email, phone, and old-fashioned face-to-face meetings.

Remodeling doesn't have to be an emotional rollercoaster. With a good contractor who is sensitive to your expectations and needs, and is adept at communicating before and during the process, remodeling can be exciting, fun and rewarding.
